Scripture (KJV): Isaiah 64:1-2
“Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down,
that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil,
to make thy name known to thine adversaries,
that the nations may tremble at thy presence!”
Reflection:
This passage expresses a cry for God to move in power—visibly, undeniably, and irresistibly. Isaiah longed to see God break through the ordinary and reveal His glory in such a way that every obstacle, every nation, and every hardened heart would know that He alone is God.
Many times in our own lives, we feel the weight of situations too great for us to fix. We see sin, confusion, chaos, coldness of heart, and we know—only God can change this. Like Isaiah, we find ourselves crying out, “Lord, come down. Move. Do what only You can do.”
The mountains represent barriers, burdens, and impossible situations. But in the presence of God, mountains melt.
When God moves, nothing stays the same.
Today, let this passage encourage your faith:
- God hears the cry of His people.
- God is not distant or unaware.
- God is able to reveal Himself in power again.
- Call upon Him. Expect Him. Trust Him.
The God who moved before will move again.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven,
I call upon You today, just as Isaiah did. I ask You to move in my life, my family, my church, and my community. Tear down every mountain that stands in the way of Your will. Let Your presence be known. Let cold hearts be stirred, broken lives be restored, and lost souls be saved. Do what only You can do, Lord.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
