A Biblical Prayer Guide-From Personal Prayer to Building Christ’s Kingdom

A Biblical Prayer Guide

From Personal Prayer, to Praying for Guidance in Building Christ’s Kingdom.

By: Junior Tate Ministries

This prayer document is designed to guide believers from personal, private prayer into unified, corporate prayer within the local church.

Prayer is not only an individual spiritual discipline but a shared biblical responsibility among the body of Christ.

Scripture teaches that believers are called to grow together, pray together, study God’s Word together, and support one another through life’s burdens in love and humility.

This guide is structured to help believers first examine their own hearts before God, then expand their prayers to include families, small groups, and the local church, fostering spiritual unity and maturity.

Its purpose is to encourage consistent, Scripture-based prayer that strengthens personal faith while building a healthy, accountable, and Christ-centered church community.

All Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV).

Section 1 — Personal Prayer: Beginning With Self.

Prayer begins with self-examination, repentance, and surrender to God. Before we can effectively pray for others, we must allow the Lord to search our hearts, cleanse us, and renew our spirits.

Psalm 51:10–12 (KJV)
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

What This Means for Believers:

  • God desires a clean and humble heart.
  • Repentance restores fellowship with God.
  • Renewal prepares believers for faithful service.

Section 2 — Prayer for Wisdom and Daily Obedience.

James 1:5 (KJV)
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Wisdom comes from God, not human effort.
  • Believers are encouraged to ask God freely.
  • God promises to answer sincere prayer.

Luke 9:23 (KJV)
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Following Christ requires daily surrender.
  • Discipleship involves self-denial.
  • Obedience is a daily commitment.

Section 3 — Small Group and Corporate Prayer.

Matthew 18:19–20 (KJV)
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

What This Means for Believers:

  • God honors agreement in prayer.
  • Christ is present in gathered prayer.
  • Unity strengthens prayer effectiveness.

James 5:16 (KJV)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Prayer brings healing and restoration.
  • Confession promotes accountability.
  • Fervent prayer is powerful.

Section 4 — The Importance of Church Attendance, Bible Study and Praying Together as a Church Body.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (KJV)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Believers are called to gather faithfully.
  • Church fellowship encourages love and good works.
  • Mutual exhortation strengthens perseverance.
  • We must attend Bible Study to grow in Christ.
  • We must attend Bible study to pray together as the body of Christ.

Acts 2:42 (KJV)

What This Means for Believers:

  • The early church prioritized doctrine and prayer.
  • Fellowship is essential for spiritual growth.
  • Consistency strengthens faith.

Section 5 — Bearing One Another’s Burdens in Group Study and Prayer.

Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Believers are called to support one another.
  • Sharing burdens reflects Christ’s love.
  • Obedience fulfills Christ’s command.
  • We are called together as the body of Christ to pray for each other and bear one another’s burdens.

Romans 12:15 (KJV)
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Christians are to share in one another’s lives.
  • Compassion strengthens unity.
  • Empathy reflects Christ’s character.

Section 6 — Praying for Guidance in Building Christ’s Kingdom (The Great Commission): Your Jerusalem.

Matthew 28:18–20 (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

What This Means for Believers:

  • Christ has authority over all Kingdom work.
  • Every believer is called to make disciples not Christians.
  • Christ promises His presence in obedience.
  • It’s a commandment to all believers to witness, testify and grow His Church.
