1 Peter 2:11 (KJV)
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.”
Reflection
As followers of Christ, we are reminded that this world is not our permanent home. We are strangers and pilgrims passing through. Because of this, we must guard our hearts closely. The desires of the flesh—pride, anger, lust, selfishness, greed, and the pursuit of worldly pleasures—are constantly battling for control of our lives. Peter urges us to abstain from these things because they are not merely temptations; they are warfare against our soul.
To walk in victory, we must daily surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit. We choose Christ over the flesh. We choose holiness over compromise. We choose eternal purpose over temporary pleasure. Let us remember who we are—we belong to the Lord, and our true home is with Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You that I am Yours and that this world is not my final home. Help me to walk in holiness and righteousness each day. Strengthen me to resist the temptations of the flesh that seek to pull my heart away from You. Give me a mind that is fixed on Christ and a spirit that desires to honor You in all things. Help me to live as a true pilgrim, passing through with purpose, faithfulness, and devotion to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
