January 9 — God Is in Control

Scripture Jeremiah 1:15 (KJV)

“For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.”

Reflection

This verse reminds us that God is sovereign over nations, rulers, and history itself. What appeared to be political movements and military threats were, in reality, under God’s command.

The Lord was not reacting to events—He was directing them.

Jeremiah was called to speak truth in a time of coming judgment, even when the message was difficult. This passage teaches us that God holds authority over the rise and fall of kingdoms, and nothing happens outside His knowledge or control.

Even in times of upheaval, God is accomplishing His purposes.

For believers today, this is a powerful reminder: when the world feels unstable, God is still on the throne. Our confidence is not in governments, systems, or human strength—but in the Lord who rules over all.

Prayer

Sovereign Lord,
Thank You for reminding me that You are in control of all things. When the world around me feels uncertain or overwhelming, help me to trust Your authority and Your plan.

Give me courage to stand for truth, even when it is difficult, and faith to rest in Your perfect will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
