Scripture Luke 22:42 (KJV)
“Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
Reflection
In the Garden of Gethsemane, we see the depth of Christ’s humanity and the greatness of His obedience. Jesus knew the suffering that lay ahead, yet He willingly submitted Himself to the Father’s will.
This moment reveals that surrender does not mean the absence of struggle—it means choosing obedience even when the cost is great.
Many of our prayers echo this same tension. We ask God to remove the pain, change the circumstance, or open another door.
But true faith is found when we can say, “Not my will, but Thine, be done.” Trusting God means believing that His will is perfect, even when it leads us through difficulty.
This verse calls us to lay our desires, fears, and plans at the feet of God and trust Him completely.
Prayer
Father God,
Teach me to trust You the way Jesus trusted You. When my heart is heavy and the path is hard, help me to surrender my will to Yours.
Give me strength to obey, faith to endure, and peace in knowing that Your plans are always good. May my life reflect humble submission to Your perfect will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
