April 7 – Strength Through Obedience

Scripture (KJV) – Joshua 1:9
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Reflection
God spoke these words to Joshua at a moment of great responsibility. Moses was gone, and Joshua was stepping into leadership, facing uncertainty and opposition. Yet God did not offer him a detailed plan first—He gave him a command: be strong and courageous.

This strength was not meant to come from Joshua himself, but from the assurance of God’s presence. Three times in this verse, God addresses fear—“be not afraid,” “neither be thou dismayed”—because He knew fear would try to take hold. But the answer to fear was not confidence in self; it was confidence in God: “for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

The same truth applies to us today. God calls us to walk forward in faith, even when the path is unknown. Courage is not the absence of fear—it is trusting God enough to move forward despite it. Wherever God leads you, His presence goes with you.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me to be strong and courageous. Help me not to give in to fear or discouragement, but to trust fully in Your presence. When I feel uncertain, give me boldness to move forward in faith. Strengthen my heart, guide my steps, and remind me that You are with me wherever I go. I choose to trust You today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
