“The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”
— Proverbs 19:23
Reflection:
This verse beautifully reminds us that a reverent fear of the Lord brings true life and lasting peace. The “fear” spoken of here is not terror, but holy reverence—a deep respect, awe, and submission to God’s authority. When we walk in the fear of the Lord, we are aligning ourselves under His protection, wisdom, and blessing.
To “abide satisfied” means to live content and fulfilled, resting in God’s provision rather than chasing the empty promises of the world. The person who fears the Lord finds peace even in the midst of life’s storms, because they know God is in control. True life and lasting satisfaction are found not in wealth, success, or status, but in a right relationship with the One who holds all things together.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the wisdom of Your Word. Teach me to walk daily in the fear of the Lord—not in dread, but in reverence and love for who You are. Help me to trust You completely and to find my satisfaction in Your presence. Protect me from the evil that seeks to steal my peace, and keep my heart anchored in Your truth. May my life be a reflection of Your goodness and grace.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
