Scripture (KJV) – Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Reflection
Revelation 21:4 gives us a glimpse into the eternal future God has prepared for His people. In a world filled with grief, sickness, funerals, disappointments, and heartache, this promise shines like a beacon of hope.
God Himself will wipe away every tear.
That means He sees every tear now. Every quiet cry. Every private burden. Every moment of sorrow that no one else understands. Nothing escapes His notice.
This verse also tells us what will no longer exist:
No more death.
No more sorrow.
No more crying.
No more pain.
All of these are the result of sin entering the world. But in the new heaven and new earth, the curse is removed. The “former things” — everything broken, fallen, and painful — will pass away completely.
For the believer, this is not just comfort for the future; it is strength for today. Whatever you are facing right now is temporary. Trials may feel long, but they are not eternal. Suffering may be real, but it is not permanent.
One day, pain will have an expiration date.
Until that day, we walk by faith, anchored in the promise that God is making all things new. Hold onto that hope. It is secure, because it rests in Him.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for the promise of a future without pain, sorrow, or death. When my heart feels heavy, remind me that this world is not my final home. Help me endure present trials with eternal perspective.
Thank You for seeing every tear and for caring about every burden. Strengthen my faith and keep my hope firmly rooted in Your promises. I trust that You will make all things new.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
