Proverbs 9:10 (KJV)
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
Reflection
Our world encourages people to trust their own opinions, follow their feelings, and do what seems right in their own eyes. God’s Word points us in a different direction. True wisdom does not begin with education, experience, or intelligence. It begins with a proper reverence for God.
To fear the Lord does not mean living in terror of Him. It means honoring Him, respecting His authority, and recognizing that He alone is holy, righteous, and worthy of our obedience. When we humble ourselves before God, His Word begins to shape our decisions, our attitudes, and our daily lives.
Many of life’s greatest mistakes happen when people ignore God’s wisdom and depend only on themselves. But when we seek the Lord first, He gives us discernment to recognize truth, strength to resist temptation, and peace to walk the path He has prepared.
Ask yourself today: Am I making decisions based on my own understanding, or am I seeking God’s wisdom through His Word and prayer?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the source of all wisdom and truth. Teach me to fear You with a heart of love, reverence, and obedience. Help me not to lean on my own understanding, but to trust You in every decision I make. Give me discernment to recognize right from wrong, courage to follow Your will, and a desire to grow closer to You each day. May my life reflect Your wisdom so others will see Christ in me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
