Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Reflection
Forgiveness is one of the clearest marks of a heart that has been changed by Jesus Christ. It is not always easy. Sometimes the wounds are deep, and the pain is real. Yet God never asks us to forgive because the offense was small. He asks us to forgive because we have been forgiven of so much.
When we refuse to forgive, bitterness begins to take root. It steals our joy, damages our fellowship with God, and affects our relationships with others. But when we choose to forgive, we release the burden into God’s hands and allow His peace to fill our hearts.
Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt never happened, nor does it always restore trust immediately. It means choosing to obey God and leaving justice in His hands. The Lord is both merciful and righteous, and He knows how to deal with every wrong.
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. If there is someone you need to forgive, surrender that hurt to God. As you remember the grace Christ has shown you, extend that same grace to others.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the incredible forgiveness You have given me through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Search my heart and reveal any bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness that I have allowed to remain. Give me the strength to forgive those who have hurt me, just as You have forgiven me. Fill my heart with kindness, compassion, and love so that my life will reflect Your grace. Help me to walk in freedom, trusting You to bring justice in Your perfect time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
