Isaiah 55:6–7
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
Reflection
One of the greatest demonstrations of God’s love is that He continually calls sinners to repentance. While His judgment is certain, His mercy is still available to every person who will turn to Him in faith.
Isaiah reminds us that there is an urgency to seeking the Lord. The invitation is not open forever. There comes a day when every opportunity to repent will end, either through death or the return of Christ. That is why the Bible repeatedly urges us to come to Him today.
Notice that God does not simply ask us to acknowledge Him. He calls us to forsake our way. Genuine repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin—it is a change of heart that results in a change of direction. We turn from sin and turn toward God.
The beautiful promise is found in the last part of the passage: “He will abundantly pardon.” Our God delights in showing mercy. No matter how far a person has wandered, God’s grace is greater than their past when they come to Him through Jesus Christ.
As believers, this passage also reminds us to examine our own walk with God. Are there areas where we have drifted? Have worldly priorities replaced our devotion to Christ? Revival begins when God’s people humble themselves and return to Him with their whole heart.
Tonight, let each of us ask a simple question: Is there anything in my life that God is asking me to surrender? If the answer is yes, today is the perfect day to turn back toward Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your amazing mercy and Your willingness to forgive all who come to You with a repentant heart. Search my life and reveal anything that keeps me from walking closely with You. Give me the courage to turn from every sinful habit, every selfish desire, and every distraction that hinders my fellowship with Christ. Help me to live each day in obedience to Your Word and to share the Gospel faithfully with those who need Your saving grace. May revival begin in my own heart and spread to my family, my church, and my community.
