Reflection
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is not open rebellion, it is a heart that slowly becomes hardened toward God. Hardness of heart rarely happens overnight. It begins with small acts of disobedience, ignored conviction, neglected prayer, forgotten time in God’s Word, and a gradual acceptance of sin.
Every time the Holy Spirit speaks through Scripture, through preaching, or through quiet conviction, we are faced with a choice. We can obey His voice, or we can ignore it. The more often we ignore God’s conviction, the easier it becomes to silence His voice in our hearts.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that today is the day to respond. God is patient and merciful, but His invitation should never be taken for granted. A heart that remains tender before the Lord is quick to repent, quick to forgive, quick to worship, and quick to obey.
Ask yourself today:
Have I ignored something God has been dealing with me about?
Is there bitterness that needs to be surrendered?
Have I become comfortable with something God calls sin?
The Lord is not looking for perfect people; He is looking for surrendered hearts. When we humble ourselves before Him, He is faithful to restore our fellowship and renew our joy.
Don’t wait another day. If God is speaking to your heart, answer Him while His invitation is still before you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me enough to speak to my heart. Forgive me for the times I have ignored Your conviction or delayed my obedience. Keep my heart soft and sensitive to Your Holy Spirit. Help me to recognize sin quickly, confess it completely, and walk faithfully in Your truth. Give me a deeper hunger for Your Word and a greater desire to please You in every area of my life. May my heart never grow cold toward the One who gave everything for me.
