Scripture (KJV): Acts 17:31
“Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
Reflection
God’s timeline is not vague—He has appointed a day. Judgment isn’t arbitrary or unfair; it will be “in righteousness” and conducted by Jesus Christ, the One whom the Father has ordained and publicly validated by the resurrection from the dead. The resurrection is God’s “assurance”—proof that Jesus is both Savior and Judge.
For believers, this truth steadies us: our faith rests on a risen Lord, and our lives should reflect holy reverence, urgent witness, and steadfast hope. For the seeker, this verse is a gracious warning and an open invitation: before that appointed day arrives, come to the appointed Savior. Today is the day of salvation; tomorrow is the day of righteous evaluation.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, righteous Judge and risen Savior,
thank You that the day is appointed and the standard is Your righteousness.
Search my heart and align my steps with Your Word.
Give me holy boldness to share the Gospel, compassion for the lost,
and a life that bears witness to Your resurrection power.
Keep me faithful, watchful, and ready for Your return.
In Your holy name, Amen.
