October 7 – What Will You Do With Jesus?

Scripture (KJV) – John 3:36

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

Reflection

There are many decisions we make in life, but none is more important than what we do with Jesus Christ.

This verse gives us two very different outcomes. The person who believes on the Son “hath everlasting life.” Notice that Jesus does not say he might receive everlasting life someday. Through faith in Christ, everlasting life is already his possession.

But Scripture also gives us a serious warning. The person who rejects the Son “shall not see life.” The verse does not say that everyone eventually reaches heaven regardless of what they do with Christ. It tells us plainly that “the wrath of God abideth on him.”

That is why the Gospel is so important.

God loves us, but His love does not erase His holiness or His judgment against sin. Instead, God’s love provided the answer to our sin. Jesus Christ took our place, died upon the Cross, was buried, and rose again so that we could be forgiven and receive everlasting life.

We cannot save ourselves through good works, church attendance, baptism, money, or simply trying to become better people. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ.

This also gives those of us who are saved a reason to care deeply about the lost. Hell and judgment are real, and the people around us need more than encouragement to live a better life. They need Jesus Christ.

The most important question is not how religious we are or how other people see us.

The question is personal:

What have you done with Jesus Christ?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to provide salvation for sinners. Help me never to forget the seriousness of sin, judgment, and eternity. Examine my life and help me live in a way that shows I truly belong to Christ. Give me compassion and courage to tell others about Jesus while there is still time. Thank You for the everlasting life You give to everyone who truly believes on Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
