Scripture (KJV) – 2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
Reflection
One of the healthiest habits in the Christian life is regular self-examination. We often evaluate our careers, finances, and physical health, yet we sometimes neglect to examine our spiritual condition. Paul challenged the believers in Corinth to look honestly at their own hearts rather than comparing themselves with others.
Personal conviction is one of the Holy Spirit’s greatest ministries. He lovingly reveals areas where our attitudes, priorities, or actions no longer reflect the character of Christ. His conviction is not meant to produce despair but repentance. God desires to restore fellowship, strengthen our faith, and draw us closer to Himself.
The Christian life is not about pretending everything is fine. It is about continually allowing God’s Word to search our hearts. When we humbly confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and continue His work of transforming us into the image of His Son.
Take a few quiet moments today and ask the Lord to examine your heart. Are there habits that need to change? Is there unforgiveness that needs to be released? Is there an area where God has been calling you to obedience? A heart that welcomes God’s correction is a heart that continues to grow in grace.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me enough to correct me when I begin to wander. Search my heart today and reveal anything that does not honor You. Give me the humility to receive Your conviction and the courage to obey whatever You ask of me. Help me to walk in sincerity, holiness, and faithfulness each day. Continue shaping me into the image of Jesus Christ so that my life will glorify You and point others to the Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
